17 <font color=

</font><br>
18 xxxterm is a minimalistic web browser that tries to stay out of the way
<br>
19 so that valuable screen real estate can be used for much more important
<br>
20 stuff.
It has sane defaults and does not require one to learn a language
<br>
21 to do any configuration.
It was written by hackers for hackers and it
<br>
22 strives to be small, compact and fast.
<br>
24 When xxxterm starts up, it reads settings from its configuration file,
<br>
25 xxxterm.conf.
See the CONFIGURATION FILES section below.
<br>
27 The following notation is used throughout this page:
<br>
29 M
Meta
<br>
30 S
Shift
<br>
31 C
Control
<br>
32 M1

34 xxxterm is very simple in its use.
Most of the actions are initiated via
<br>
35 key or mouse bindings.
See the BINDINGS section below for defaults and
<br>
36 customizations.
<br>
38 The options are as follows:
<br>
40 <font color=
"#ff6060"> -f

41 Use alternate config file.
<br>
43 <font color=

52 xxxterm tries to open the user specific file, ~/.xxxterm.conf.
If that
<br>
53 file is unavailable, it then uses built-in defaults.
<br>
55 The format of the file is
<keyword
> =
<setting
>.
For example:
<br>
57 http_proxy =
<a href=
"http://127.0.0.1:8080">http://
127.0.0.1:
8080</a><br>
59 Enabling or disabling an option is done by using
1 or
0 respectively.
<br>
61 The file supports the following keywords:
<br>
63 ctrl_click_focus
Give focus in newly created tab instead of
<br>
64 opening it in the background.
<br>
65 read_only_cookies
Mark cookies file read-only and discard all
<br>
66 cookies once the sessions is terminated.
<br>
67 cookies_enabled
Enable cookies.
<br>
68 enable_scripts
Enable scripts.
<br>
69 enable_plugins
Enable plugins.
<br>
70 default_font_size
Set the default browsing font size.
<br>
71 http_proxy

<br>
72 download_dir

<br>
73 This directory must exist and xxxterm vali-
<br>
74 dates that during startup.
<br>
75 fancy_bar
Enables a backward, forward and stop button
<br>
76 to the toolbar.
Additionally if
<br>
77 search_string is set it'll enable an entry
<br>
78 box for searches.
<br>
79 search_string
Default search engine string.
See
<br>
80 xxxterm.conf file for details.
<br>
81 mime_type
Sets an action for a specific or default
<br>
82 MIME type.
For example, to download and
<br>
83 view a pdf using kpdf set mime_type = ap-
<br>
84 plication/pdf,kpdf.
To set a default value
<br>
85 use *, for example mime_type =
<br>
86 video/*,mplayer.
Note that the action is
<br>
87 only passed the URI and not all applica-
<br>
88 tions are capable of downloading content
<br>
89 and therefore one might have to create a
<br>
90 wrapper script to download the content
<br>
91 first.
<br>
93 xxxterm overrides http_proxy if it is specified as an environment vari-
<br>
94 able.
<br>
