   7 The platform designator (rh7, rh8, rh9) has been
   8 REMOVED from the package names as this was creating
   9 some problems. Hence, you CAN NOT upgrade existing
  10 installations with these packages (rpm -U).

  12 To upgrade:
  13 1. Backup your configuration files (/etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf)
  14 "just to be safe."
  15 2. Uninstall the old apcupsd package, ie.
  16 rpm -e apcupsd-usb-rh9
  17 If you are not sure what package name is installed do
  18 rpm -qa | grep apcupsd
  19 3. Install the new package with rpm -i
  20
  21 In addition, the spec file has been reworked to include a
  22 platform configuration section at the beginning of the file.
  23 To rebuild the SRPM, first install using rpm -i then edit
  24 /usr/src/redhat/SPECS/apcupsd.spec (or whatever directory
  25 structure your platform uses) to set platform options and
  26 select whether to build usb support. You may also pass the
  27 defines on the command line as in the past. You only need to
  28 specify the platform for RH7.x builds.

  34 RedHat 9 and perhaps 8 will continue to be supported for the
  35 forseeable future. Whitebox Enterprise Linux support is
  36 added with this release as I intend to migrate my server
  37 (currently RH8) to that platform. I may also continue to provide
  38 RH8 packages by setting up a box for that purpose.

  40 There is no intent to provide Fedora Core packages as neither
  41 one of us wishes to get on that upgrade treadmill, however I
  42 expect the SRPM will continue to build on that platform for some time.
