   1 SBCL is derived from CMU CL, which was released into the public
   2 domain, subject only to the BSD-style "free, but credit must be given
   3 and copyright notices must be retained" licenses in the LOOP macro
   4 (from MIT and Symbolics) and in the PCL implementation of CLOS (from
   5 Xerox).

   7 After CMU CL was was released into the public domain, it was
   8 maintained by volunteers, who continued the tradition of releasing
   9 their work into the public domain.

  11 All changes to SBCL since the fork from CMU CL have been released into
  12 the public domain in jurisdictions where this is possible, or under
  13 the FreeBSD licence where not.

  15 Thus, there are no known obstacles to copying, using, and modifying
  16 SBCL freely, as long as copyright notices of MIT, Symbolics, Xerox and
  17 Gerd Moellmann are retained.
