  12 and as for the other half—or so very nearly half, like a pie whose pieces have
  13 all been eaten but whose dish yet contains stale morsels broken off by the very
  14 act of dividing the pie, remnants too small to be considered worthy of taking
  15 by any prospective eater now dried by the chill Winter atmosphere and the pale
  16 rays of a Spring Sun not yet arrived—any prose bearing any recognizable
  17 characteristic of poetry whatsoever, any prose perceived to be elevated on
  18 high—how high exactly I cannot say, perhaps as high as the throne of a king or
  19 the perch of a songbird or the very heavens hereon—and clothed in raiment of
  20 purplish hue—how purple I cannot say, perhaps as purple as the robe of a king
  21 or the fletch of a songbird or the very heavens at dawn—but it is this high and
  22 purply prose that this half deems poetry;

  24 and I often meet someone who doesn’t even need (or want) colorful prose
  25 literally any doggerel is enough because for all this one knows
  26 it’s a poem if it’s chopped into lines
  27 and there’s no other requirement except that the last word on each line rhymes
  28 so fuck rhythm and music and cadence and scansion and metry
  29 if it doesn’t rhyme it’s not poetry
  30 the rest of the poem can be indistinguishable from shit but must pass this quiz
  31 does it rhyme? then it is
  32 poetry
