157
Starting with version 2.7.0, the import engine has been re–written and
158 these problems should not occur. If possible, upgrade your phpMyAdmin
159 to the latest version to take advantage of the new import features.

160
The first things to check (or ask your host provider to check) are the
161 values of upload_max_filesize, memory_limit and

163 three settings limit the maximum size of data that can be submitted
164 and handled by PHP. One user also said that post_max_size and
165 memory_limit need to be larger than upload_max_filesize.
166 There exist several workarounds if your upload is too big or your
167 hosting provider is unwilling to change the settings:

168

169

Look at the $cfg['UploadDir'] feature. This allows one to upload a file to the server
170 via scp, ftp, or your favorite file transfer method. PhpMyAdmin is
171 then able to import the files from the temporary directory. More
172 information is available in the Configuration of this document.

173

174

Using a utility (such as BigDump) to split the files before

197
You tried to access MySQL with an old MySQL client library. The
198 version of your MySQL client library can be checked in your phpinfo()
199 output. In general, it should have at least the same minor version as
200 your server - as mentioned in 1.17 Which Database versions does phpMyAdmin support?. This problem is
201 generally caused by using MySQL version 4.1 or newer. MySQL changed
202 the authentication hash and your PHP is trying to use the old method.
203 The proper solution is to use the mysqli extension with the proper client library to match

218
To connect to a MySQL server, PHP needs a set of MySQL functions
219 called “MySQL extension”. This extension may be part of the PHP
220 distribution (compiled-in), otherwise it needs to be loaded

519
For RedHat users, Harald Legner suggests this on the mailing list:

520
On my RedHat-Box the socket of MySQL is /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock.
521 In your php.ini you will find a line

522

mysql.default_socket = /tmp/mysql.sock

527

528

529
Then restart apache and it will work.

530
Here is a fix suggested by Brad Ummer:

531

532
First, you need to determine what socket is being used by MySQL. To do
533 this, telnet to your server and go to the MySQL bin directory. In this
534 directory there should be a file named mysqladmin. Type
535 ./mysqladmin variables, and this should give you a bunch of info
536 about your MySQL server, including the socket (/tmp/mysql.sock, for
537 example).

538
Then, you need to tell PHP to use this socket. To do this in
539 phpMyAdmin, you need to complete the socket information in the
540 config.inc.php. For example:
541 $cfg['Servers'][$i]['socket'] Please also make sure that
542 the permissions of this file allow to be readable by your webserver (i.e.
543 ‘0755’).

544

545
Have also a look at the corresponding section of the MySQL
546 documentation.

563
When you are using a port on your localhost, which you redirect via

1241
Any query you have executed can be stored as a bookmark on the page

1245 You can now access a bookmark dropdown on each page, the query box
1246 appears on for that database.

1247
You can also have, inside the query, placeholders for variables.
1248 This is done by inserting into the query SQL comments between /* and
1249 */. Inside the comments, the special strings [VARIABLE{variable-number}] is used.

1252
When you execute the bookmark, everything typed into the Variables

1271
Say, you now enter “phpMyAdmin” as the variable for the stored query, the full
1272 query will be:

1575
When renaming/copying/moving a database/table/column/procedure,
1576 MySQL does not adjust the original privileges relating to these objects
1577 on its own. By selecting this option, phpMyAdmin will adjust the privilege
1578 table so that users have the same privileges on the new items.

1579
For example: A user 'bob'@'localhost‘ has a ‘SELECT’ privilege on a
1580 column named ‘id’. Now, if this column is renamed to ‘id_new’, MySQL,
1581 on its own, would not adjust the column privileges to the new column name.
1582 phpMyAdmin can make this adjustment for you automatically.

1583
Notes:

1584

1585
While adjusting privileges for a database, the privileges of all
1586 database-related elements (tables, columns and procedures) are also adjusted
1587 to the database’s new name.

1588
Similarly, while adjusting privileges for a table, the privileges of all
1589 the columns inside the new table are also adjusted.

1590
While adjusting privileges, the user performing the operation must have the following
1591 privileges:

1592
SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE privileges on following tables:
1593 mysql.`db`, mysql.`columns_priv`, mysql.`tables_priv`, mysql.`procs_priv`

1594
FLUSH privilege (GLOBAL)

1595

1596

1597

1598
Thus, if you want to replicate the database/table/column/procedure as it is
1599 while renaming/copying/moving these objects, make sure you have checked this option.
