   1 This file should not distributed with any releases of GNU Midnight
   2 Commander.

   4 To compile MC from CVS, the following software is required:

   6 Autoconf (recent stable version)
   7 Automake (recent stable version)
   8 Gettext 0.10.38 - 0.10.40 or 0.11.5 and above.
   9 Glib 1.2.6 and above on the 1.2.x branch.

  11 It is recommended that all those tools are installed with the same
  12 prefix.  Make sure that the tools with the right version are first in
  13 PATH.

  15 Once you have the right tools, run `autogen.sh' - it will generate
  16 everything necessary for the build and run `configure'.  Arguments given
  17 to `autogen.sh' are passed to `configure'.  Then run `make' as usually.

  19 The distribution tarball is created by the command `make distcheck'.
  20 This command can take a while.

  22 The next version, mc-4.6.0, is expected to be released with the
  23 following tools:
