   1 If the file "configure" does not exist, i.e. this is not a Maxima
   2 tarball release, execute the script "./bootstrap", which will do
   3 the necessary auto(conf,make) magic necessary to produce the
   4 "configure" script.

   6 Afterwards further installation instructions are available from
   7         ./configure --help
   8 and the file INSTALL.
