  30 tty \- controlling terminal
  31 .SH DESCRIPTION
  32 The file
  33 .I /dev/tty
  34 is a character file with major number 5 and
  35 minor number 0, usually with mode 0666 and ownership root:tty.
  36 It is a synonym for the controlling terminal of a process, if any.

  48 Detach the calling process from its controlling terminal.
