22 The purpose of the Observing List Tool is to provide convenient
23 access to some common functions for a list of objects chosen by
24 you. Objects are added to the list by using the <quote>Add to
25 List</quote> action in the <link linkend="popup-menu">popup
26 menu</link>, or by simply pressing the <keycap>O</keycap> key
27 to add the currently-selected object.
30 Objects in the list can be sorted by any of the data columns
31 (Name, Right Ascension, Declination, Magnitude, and Type).
32 To perform an action on an object, highlight it in the list,
33 and then press one of the Action buttons at the top of the
34 window. Some actions can be performed while multiple objects
35 are selected; others only operate when one object is selected.
36 The available actions are:
43 Center the display on the selected object, and begin Tracking
53 Point your <link linkend="indi">telescope</link> at the
60 <term>Alt vs. Time</term>
63 Open the <link linkend="tool-altvstime">Altitude vs. Time
64 Tool</link>, with the selected object(s) preloaded
73 Open the <link linkend="tool-details">Detailed Information
74 Window</link> for the selected object.
83 Remove the selected object(s) fron the observing list.
93 The Observing List tool is a new feature and is still under
94 development. We are planning to add more features, such as
95 adding objects to the list by selecting a region in the sky, and
96 the ability to save observing lists to disk.
