  17 can embed the in-use schematic symbols and pictures into a schematic
  18 or set of schematics. It allow, for instance, putting a schematic on a
  19 website or in an email without the recipient needing to download lots
  20 of custom symbols for the design.

  23 can also unembed symbol references from a schematic, but note that the
  24 symbols revert to library references; if the symbol doesn't exist in
  25 the current gEDA project's library path, a broken schematic results.
