   9 This package provides a set of tools for the automatic generation of
  10 shallow-transfer machine translation (MT) rules from parallel
  11 corpora. Transfer rules are generated from alignment templates, like
  12 those used in statistical machine translation, that have been
  13 extracted from parallel corpora and extended with a set of
  14 restrictions controlling their application. The generate transfer
  15 rules (in XML format) can be directly used by the Apertium MT platform
  16 (http://www.apertium.org). Although this package is aimed at the
  17 generation of Apertium transfer rules it can be adapted to generate
  18 shallow-transfer rules for other MT platforms. Moreover, some of the
  19 tools it provides can be used for other purposes such as the
  20 extraction of bilingual phrase pairs or the symmetrization of
  21 previously computed alignments. This package depends on the GIZA++
  22 toolkit (http://www.fjoch.com/GIZA++.html) to compute word
  23 alignments; nevertheless, it can be easily adapted to use other
  24 aligners.

 105 To install apertium-transfer-tools you need to have installed the
 106 following packages:

 112 Once you have all the required software installed, install
 113 apertium-transfer-tools in the common way:
