  13 So, I'd like to tell about it. (Actually, the following remarks are
  14 independent from what I write in the attached files.) Namely, the
  15 similarity is like this:

  17 "sau die coole Party" is an indefinite DP from outside, but a
  18 different thing from inside

  22 "we don't know what" is an (indefinite) DP from outside, but a
  23 different thing (a sentence with sluicing) from inside.

  25 So, perhaps it can be analyzed with some type trickery going on when
  26 it has to be plugged into the outer sentence as an indefinite DP.

  28 And the stuff that's inside can be treated as a more or less
  29 independent embedded expression (perhaps, a defective sentence): when
  30 it is processed, the matrix sentence has already been processed, and
  31 the matrix clause has introduced an indefinite entity -- that
  32 introduced entity is now a definite from the view of the embedded
  33 expression.

  35 So perhaps we can make up the types and the semantics so that a link
  36 is established between the indefinite in the matrix sentence and the
  37 definite in the embedded expression. This task can be considered to be
  38 similar to the task of establishing a link between the indefinite in
  39 the matrix sentence "He ate [we don't know what]" and the "what" in
  40 the embedded sentence "we don't know what". (I don't really know yet
  41 how this is done because I haven't yet suggested semantics for my
  42 expressions.)

  44 Or perhaps it might be interesting simply to try to assign a type in
  45 some TLG-like system to "sau" so that it works out for both possible
  46 positions (I mean "sau die..." and "eine sau..."). If someone does
  47 this, it could become an explanation for "sau" and also an exploration
  48 of the merits of TLG.
