Protocol Buffers are a way of encoding structured data in an efficient yet extensible format.

Google uses Protocol Buffers for almost all of its internal RPC protocols and file formats.

NOTE: Google only releases Protocol Buffers in tarballs (so far), this is an unofficial mirror of the tarball releases. The only difference with the tarball is that the files generated by the bootstrap process (e.g. configure, Makefiles etc.) have been removed.
