the_list

   1 This is a list of stuff, unrelated to this project, but somewhat of an
   2 inside joke.

   4 Basically, Justin or I will happen upon something that's really bad,
   5 something that has to do with software. And when we do, we jokingly
   6 suggest putting it on "the list", a list of things we'll write our own,
   7 perfect versions of.

   9 So, this list is a semi-serious list of things that I'd like to code.

  11 In no particular order:

  13 * Write something that roughly replaces what Adobe Flash has to offer.
  14   But use the proper technologies, such as SMIL, ECMAScript, and SVG.
  15 * A Jabber client for googles new Android platform. Should be easy, as
  16   google likes Jabber and provides a built in library to do the trick.
  17 * Write a Ventrilo/TeamSpeak clone. Too many WoW nerds use this type of
  18   crap, so there should be a good, simple alternative. Maybe write it in
  19   C to increace the leetness. Base this off of jabber.
  20 * An underground paper, to counter all the mis-information out there.
  21 * A kickass text editor. Like, there are things I like in Kate, Emacs,
  22   JEdit, Gedit and nano, but none of them have the perfect combination
  23   of features. We need syntax highlighting, and this needs to be defined
  24   in a scripting language, so it's easy to add new ones. General purpose
  25   scripting with squirrel maybe.

  27 Yeah, that's all I could think of. We've thunk up alot more, but they
  28 escape me at the moment.
