26
I have a slight suspicion that Dylan plays in dropped C tuning with a capo on the
2nd fret
– it is clearly played with a capo, and the third chord (A, or G with the capo) is played as seventh chord, and he hardly ever does that except in that tuning. It's not much to go by, and it doesn't really matter, so I'll let it fall.
27 Anyway, the basic riff is much easier to play in D, so I'll leave the tab in the sounding key.

47 Well, your railroad gate, you know I just can't jump it
49 Sometimes it gets so hard, you see
51 I'm just sitting here beating on my trumpet
53 With all these promises you left for me
55 But where are you tonight, sweet Marie?
57 Well, I waited for you when I was half sick
58 Yes, I waited for you when you hated me
59 Well, I waited for you inside of the frozen traffic
60 When you knew I had some other place to be
61 Now, where are you tonight, sweet Marie?
68 just like me, obviously
72 not too many can be like you, fortunately.
76 Well, six white horses that you did promise
77 Were fin'lly delivered down to the penitentiary
78 But to live outside the law, you must be honest
79 I know you always say that you agree
80 But where are you tonight, sweet Marie?
84 Well, I don't know how it happened
85 But the river-boat captain, he knows my fate
86 But ev'rybody else, even yourself
87 They're just gonna have to wait.
91 Well, I got the fever down in my pockets
92 The Persian drunkard, he follows me
93 Yes, I can take him to your house but I can't unlock it
94 You see, you forgot to leave me with the key
95 Oh, where are you tonight, sweet Marie?
97 Now, I been in jail when all my mail showed
98 That a man can't give his address out to bad company
99 And now I stand here lookin' at your yellow railroad
100 In the ruins of your balcony
101 Wond'ring where you are tonight, sweet Marie.
