22
Written by Thomas A. Dorsey
23 Performed once by Bob Dylan (Les Ar
ènes, Frejus, France
13 June
25 Tabbed by Eyolf

29
Dylan's performance is a tremendous one, but one where
– as often is
30 the case with his one-offs
– the words aren't always clear. I've
31 noted some deviations from the
“standard
” version, but not all of
32 them. The end of the chorus is sung differently, but I can't hear what
33 he's singing there. Thus, the version below is a hybrid: neither
34 exactly what Dylan sings, nor what he should have sung.

36
Either the tape is a little fast, or he has a capo on the
1st fret.

42 Oh well, I'm tired and so weary,
46 Till the lord comes and takes me away,
48 Well the morning's so bright
50 And the lamp is alight
52 And the night, night is as black as the sea *)
57 There will be peace in the valley
59 for me, one of these days
61 There will be peace, peace in the valley
63 for me, oh Lord I pray
65 There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
67 No trouble, trouble I see **)
69 There will be peace, peace in the valley
71 for me, one of these days
75 Well the bear will be gentle
76 And the wolves will be tame
77 And the lion shall lie down by the lamb, oh yes ***)
78 And the beasts from on wild
79 they will be lit by a child
80 And I'll be changed from this creature that I am
84 There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
85 There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
86 There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
87 No trouble, trouble I see
88 There will be peace in the valley for me, for me
95
*)
“But I never [...] night / And the night's so bright / With the
96 night as bright as the day.
”

98
**)
“there'll be no trouble / no trouble [at day?] / up over the
99 [...] / of a harder day
”

101
***)
“Well the beasts will be gentle / And the lion it'll be tame /
102 And the lion will lie down with the lamb
