Angband is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the

Foundation, version 2, or the "Angband licence", shown below, with some 
exceptions:

 * At the time of release, code written by the following individuals is only
   available under the Angband licence; the brackets after their name indicate
   the code which is not clean as a result:

   - Prfnoff (character death menu, customizable player races, player history,
              and shop owners)
   - Chris Ang (various 2.5.x bits of code which I believe the game is
                still derivative of)

   - Ron Anderson (Mac port)
   - Ross E Becker (Windows port)

   - Torbjorn Lindgren (XAW port)

   Any information on the contact details for these people, whether online or
   otherwise, would be much appreciated.  Note that as a result of these
   remaining restrictions, the game itself is not quite GPL-clean.

 * The SDL runtime libraries (if provided with your copy of the game) are under
   the following licence:

     The Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL for short) is a cross-platfrom library
     designed to make it easy to write multi-media software, such as games and
     emulators.

 * Adam Bolt's (16x16) graphics may be redistributed and used for any purpose,

 * the font files are under the licences noted in lib/xtra/font/copying.txt.


It is considered good practice to retain this statement for derivatives, rather
than (e.g.) redistributing Adam Bolt's tiles under the GPL, or choosing to make
a variant which is only under one of the Angband or GPL licences.  This allows
easier sharing of changes between variants.
