1.0.7.8: micro-optimize STRING->UTF8
* Slight cleverness about types, and inline ADD-BYTE locally.
* If the utf8-length is the same as the length of the subsequence use
a faster path.
* Up to 60% faster on my test-cases (strings of random characters in
the full character-code range.)
