OOM mitigation
Paging through ai_systems_of_l4d_mike_booth.pdf on this machine
eventually triggers OOM, so even though this machine is perhaps
atypical:
512M, no swap, no overcommit, one instance of seamonkey 1.1.18,
one of namoroka 3.6, one xemacs and a bunch of rxvts:

let's play it safe.
