gitstats: Stripped down test-lib.sh to the bits we need
Removed a large chunk from test-lib.sh so that it can be
run with a regular git install. The downside is that it is
now impossible to use this version for a bunch of things
that GitStats does not use. However, it should be trivial
to switch to the normal version if/when GitStats moves to
the git.git repository.
