New one-character alternatives of operators, keeping ASCII fall-backs.

When it comes to recommendations for which alternative to use, I would generally recognize the more compact one-character alternatives, but there are exceptions.  For instance, I do like the keywords <and> and <or>, but for those who don't, there's a more mathematical way of writing these as well.
